HD DVD Terminator 3 Review

Sat Mar 31, 2007, 7:52 PM
I recently bought the HD DVD add on for the XBOX 360, as well as some of my favorite action movies. First off I would like to say that I don't see HD DVD as the sucsessor to DVD, because DVD's are still really great for everyone, but HD DVD is more for those home entertainment junkies who make it their hobby to kick ass with their entertainment. DVD's are great no rewinding, the ability to skip or select scenes, and don't wear out like VHS. HD DVD just looks and sounds better, and my opinion is that its useless for some movies to even make an appearance on HD DVD. For example, I noticed that you can buy The Lake House on HD DVD, which is a romance movie, so what I can really see the glimmer of the lake or detail in their tears. What is the point, if your going to spend the extra money, at least do it on something that will take advantage of the heightened resoulution and sound capablities. Which brings me back to Terminator 3. I love this movie, because of all the cool effects and lots of stuff that just gets destroyed. And let me tell you watching this in full 1080 resolution is amazing. Immersion factor of this movie is just spectacular. The scene where the big crane truck gets crunched after the Terminator drops the hook into a manhole, is one of the coolest scenes I have ever seen, and it was so impressive with the benefit of HD that I rewound it and watched it 3 more times. Ok so I'm a dork, but it just looked great! HD DVD also boasts superior sound, and I never cared or paid much attention to this, because with my surround system its always sounded pretty darn good to me. But in this movie I heard so much more that I never even heard in the theathers. From the magnetic field to leaves crunching, and the squeek of the crane. This movie is one perfect example of a movie that is worth purchasing on HD DVD, but as I said earlier, only if you're a real enthusiast about your home entertainment, and of course only if you have an HDTV and a surround sound system. So for most of you this is not your thing, but for those of you curious what a normal person not sponsered by some company thinks, then there you are, HD DVD is spectacular to watch, looks as good as Blu-ray, is half the price, or less if you already own an XBOX 360, plays your orginal DVD's with the ability to slightly enhance the picture quality to almost HD, but is only for the true home entertainment enthusiast.

Hey. Glad you like my Ninja IPOD work(s). This is my only break from 3D these days (sort of)… in any case... I hope you enjoyed looking at it as much as I enjoyed making it.
